About the author: Leela J. Williams grew up with stories of her grandmother ‘knowing’ what was happening with family and friends on the other side of the world. Spiritual connection was a manifestation of love, and it seemed natural to share dreams and secret worlds with her sister. When, as teens, their sensitivities heightened, it further fuelled Leela’s fascination with the unseen, and she delved deeper into music, philosophy and metaphysics.

In 2000, Leela’s love of books, words, magic and remarkable people melded when she entered the realm of spiritual publishing. She founded The Spirit Guide in 2002, published Spheres and Spellcraft magazines and co-founded The Psychics Directory with the Australian Psychics Association. Leela’s contributions to the spiritual field were recognised with a Psychic of the Year Award for Queensland in 2004, a Psychic Ambassador Award in 2013 and the Simon Turnbull Award in 2016. As part of the International Psychics Association’s 10th Anniversary Celebrations in 2023, she was awarded Best Psychic Creator. She served as the media spokesperson for the International Psychics Association and had a regular spot on radio for over ten years.

Avidly curious, Leela continues to explore philosophy, mythology and spiritual connection. Her creativity, deep thinking and quirky view of the world have made her a sought-after editor and mentor. She lives in Brisbane, Australia, with her four children and an ever-growing collection of books, oracles, tarot cards and musical instruments.

Leela is the author of Maxine Gadd’s Zoologica: The Steampunk Oracle, and has co-written or contributed to Sacred Earth Oracle, Peace Oracle, Precious Gems Oracle, Portraits of Innocence, Kahlil Gibran’s The Prophet: An Oracle Card Set, Ancestor Spirit Oracle Cards, Oracle of the Wylder Ones, and more.

About the artist: Maxine Gadd’s talent was apparent as soon as she could hold a crayon. At just eleven years old she sold her first painting. Her highly developed creative talent eventually allowed her entrance into a high school which specialised in extra-curricular classes for talented artistic students. After graduating, Maxine decided to study Graphic Design and won the prestigious John Lunghi Award for the best piece of artwork in the final exhibition for graduating students.

Further studies in fine art led her to fall in love with the Pre-Raphaelite and Romantic movements finding inspiration in their lush and detailed style. This eventually led to Maxine writing and illustrating a faerie book, which although never finished, launched a career in Faerie art. Her work has been featured in several books including The Art of Fairy, with prominent international fantasy artists.

Diana Zimmerman, who purchased many of Maxine’s originals, was so moved by one of her paintings she wrote a fairy story around it and commissioned Maxine to illustrate the book. Her art works have also been featured in Fae Magazine and the Clout Fantasy Game. Eventually a book devoted to Maxine’s art – Fairies and Other Fantastical Folk – was published both in the USA and UK and had great success selling over 45,000 copies. She was also a special guest at Faerieworlds in Portland, Oregon USA 2008, and as a guest artist at the Glastonbury Faery Festival 2013.
